ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Founded in 1973 and based out of Oak Park Active Living Centre in Walsall, West Midlands, our non-profit club's mission is simple: to get people playing and enjoying squash, regardless of age or ability. We believe in having fun, keeping fit, and making friends along the way.

Our club boasts two glass-backed courts and a vibrant community of over 50 active members, organized into six internal divisions. Led by chairman Ed Chmielewski and offering coaching through our England Squash certified coach, Rob Caddick Squash Coaching, we also host free events throughout the year for both juniors and adults. Whether you’re interested in internal tournaments or team squash, there’s always something happening.

Known throughout the region as one of the friendliest clubs around, our relaxed and welcoming atmosphere ensures everyone feels at home. Plus, our unique system means you never have to worry about booking courts or arranging games. Simply let us know your availability, and we’ll handle the rest, making it easy to focus on playing and enjoying the game.

Step into Oak Park Squash Club and find your place in our vibrant, welcoming squash community.

CLUB INTERNAL DIVISIONS

CLUB INTERNAL DIVISIONS

The internal divisions run throughout the year and are made up of players of varying standards. When joining, you'll be put in a league which best suits your ability to make sure you’re learning, whilst also being challenged.

With our unique system, all games are pre-arranged and you do not have to book courts or contact anyone to arrange a game unless it is to reschedule. All we need to know are any dates and times you can’t couldn’t make and the rest will be organised for you.

Matches are played Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings, starting between 5:40pm - 9:00pm. You will get a game most weeks but depending on player availability, there may be two games in one week and the occasional clear week.

A number of the players also arrange their own friendlies and some play during the day. On joining, you will get a complete list of club members and their contact details. If you cannot make a particular game due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances we would ask you to contact your opponent asap. If there are free courts, members send out messages via email and our WhatsApp group to ensure courts are used.

And for all the above, it’s only £22 a month.

If you wish to join, contact us.

TEAM SQUASH

TEAM SQUASH

Team squash offers a unique opportunity for players to shift from a solo mindset to one of teamwork, where they can support and learn from each other in ways that go beyond the traditional one-on-one match experience.

At Oak Park, we recognize the value of the team-oriented approach and provide a variety of opportunities for players to engage in team squash. Our higher ability players compete in the Staffordshire County Leagues and international tournaments in Spain and Portugal, while all players have the chance to participate in friendly matches with local clubs across our men’s and ladies’ teams.

Additionally, we have developed a new mixed ability squash initiative in collaboration with our friends at Lichfield Squash Club called Point Pursuit Squash, in which trials of the format have been incredibly successful.
